Almond Milk Collagen Matcha Latte
My day begins with my morning ritual of an almond milk matcha latte. After perfecting the frothed collagen milk, just the right amount of light honey & using high quality sourced matcha powder, I prefer to make these at home over ordering out, and I hope you will too!
Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown green tea, sourced mainly from Japan. The caffeine content of matcha is much less than that of a coffee and the distinguishable trait of matcha that sets it apart from coffee is the way that the caffeine is released into your bloodstream. Matcha contains the amino acid called L-theanine which reduces how quickly the body absorbs the caffeine. This reduces the negative stimulant effect that coffee can give and instead leaves you feeling alert and focused.
To make one collagen matcha you will need
1 cup organic unsweetened almond milk (I prefer to use Malk or homemade)
1-2tsp or single serving packet of matcha
1 scoop collagen of choice
1/2 tbsp honey
In a kettle, heat water, turn off before it comes to a boil as you don’t want your water too hot or it will burn the matcha. Then, in a bowl, add your matcha powder, honey and pour just a splash or two of the water over. Whisk together until combined. In a milk frother, pour your cup of almond milk and add your scoop of collagen. Froth until finished. Pour your matcha honey & water mixture into a mug, then pour your frothed milk and collagen. Stir to combine & enjoy the benefits of this delicious morning ritual.
