Collagen & Cacao Spinach Smoothie Bowl

As a big fan of fruit and sweet things, I had to learn through balancing my hormones and blood sugar levels that eating or drinking fruit alone is not a good idea. This doesn’t mean that I don’t consume fruits as a big part of my diet, I just had to learn to change the way I included them into my meals.

The best way I learned to do this was by ensuring I balanced my smoothies with adding greens, a source of protein (whether by protein powder or nut butters), and healthy fats. I now prefer them this way, as I notice I feel more satiated, balanced and energized for longer periods of time after consuming them!

This Cacao Collagen Spinach smoothie has quickly become one of my go to’s, packed with iron from cacao, protein from collagen & almond butter, potassium from bananas & a date, antioxidants from Acai and blueberries & immunity boosting with bee pollen!

To Blend

  • 1/2-1 frozen banana

  • 1 packet organic Acai

  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 organic medjool date

  • 1 handful fresh or frozen spinach

  • 1 tbsp fermented cacao powder

  • 1 scoop or tbsp collagen powder of choice

  • 2 tsp spirulina powder

  • 2 tsp bee pollen

  • 1 cup coconut water

In a high speed blender, add spinach at the base, then coconut water, then fruit and then the collagen, cacao, spirulina and bee pollen. Blend on high until creamy, serve as a smoothie or smoothie bowl! For smoothie bowl toppings I like grain free or gluten free granola (seed oil free), a few slices of banana, extra bee pollen & honey or nut butter to top!
