Blueberry Bliss Protein Smoothie

In the progression of my health journey and diving into nutrition, I have realized how important it is to add protein & healthy fats to smoothies in order to balance out the sugar content so it doesn’t spike blood sugar. This has made a huge difference in my energy levels, hormonal balance & overall feeling of satiation when consuming fruit.

This smoothie is based upon one of my favorite low glycemic fruits: blueberries. This means they spike blood sugar less than other fruits such as mangoes or bananas. They are an incredible source of antixodiants, especially wild blueberries. They improve everything from immunity to brain health and skin health.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup wild frozen blueberries

  • 1/2-1 frozen banana

  • 1 handful spinach/kale

  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds

  • 1 scoop grass fed collagen or protein powder

  • 1/2-1 cup coconut water

Directions

-Add all ingredients to a blender & enjoy!
